Good City Group Discovery Walks

Granville Avenue from the North Shore Channel to Lake Michigan — June 11, 2022

Discover Granville Avenue!

As we meander from Westridge to Edgewater Glen, we will take our time on this 3-mile walk along Granville Avenue. This leisurely three-hour walk will consist of two parts and we invite you to join us for the first part, or the second, or both!

In part one of this Good City walk, we will meet at the corner of North Kedzie and West Granville at 10:00 am, walking east along Granville, hearing from local leaders and residents along the way (about two miles). We take a break at the Hearts and Flour Bakery, located on the Misericordia campus at 6300 North Ridge before we continue on with the second leg of our walk.

Part One from 10:00-11:30 am, starting at N. Kedzie and W. Granville Ave

Register for the first part of the walk here!

Part two of our Discover Granville Avenue walk will head out from the Hearts and Flour Bakery (6300 North Ridge Avenue) at 12:00 pm and take us right to the lakefront. This leg is about a mile and we expect to end at Berger Park around 1:00 pm.

Part Two from 12:00-1:00 pm, starting at 6300 N. Ridge Ave, ending at Berger Park on the lakefront.

Get more information and register for the second half of the walk here.

We will (re)discover the things we don’t often see through a series of interactive, discovery walks. Along the way, we will have a conversation about our neighborhoods’ perceived limitations to make them more connected, accessible, and equitable.

These walks will shine a light on the rich and complex histories–and futures–of several Chicago communities. Understanding our neighborhoods fosters a sense of community agency and shared meaning in a way that connects us more deeply to one another.
